Bet You Didn't Know Mother Goose Had A Sister!
Who can resist a book subtitled Twisted Rhymes for Naughty Children? Well, maybe Mom and Dad, but surely not kids. Most young ones are familiar with Mother Goose rhymes but certainly not with those given laugh provoking new lines in this imaginative collection by Lisa Wheeler.
The author of more than 25 children’s books Wheeler knows exactly how to catch a young eye and hold the youngster’s attention. Kids will be laughing at this book and sharing it with their friends. Australian artist Sophie Blackall is an experienced children’s book illustrator who accompanies each rhyme with equally amusing illustrations.
Here’s just a bit to tempt you from Mother Goose’s sister Spinster Goose who is relegated to dealing with the children who are “simply too naughty for Mother Goose.”:
“Mary had a little lamb
She said it was a horse
But anyone with eyes could see
It was a lamb, of course.
It followed her to school one day,
Which wasn’t all that prudent.
Mary introduced her lamb
and said it was a student.......”
Each twisted verse also has a new title, such as Old Mother Hubbard is now The Custodian and Little Jack Horner is now The Thumb-Sucker.
Lots of fun delivered tongue-in-cheekily for parents, teachers, and children.
