A Toe Tapping New Take On A Familiar Rhyme
Much loved childrens book author and Caldecott winner Eve Bunting delivers a foot tapping new take on The Cat and the Fiddle. This time there's isn't a cow jumping over the moon or a dish running away with the spoon. Instead we find the musicians tuning up their instruments, introducing young readers to the different sounds made in an orchestra and to the joys of music.
Bunting begins with a perky blue cat playing the fiddle then moves on to "Hey diddle dum, the whale bangs the drum" followed by "the seals on the big saxophone." And so it goes until the final result is music.
Author/illustrator Mary Ann Fraser captures the happy tone of HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE with glowing full double page illustrations done in acrylic.
Young readers will delight in finding the full orchestra on the last two pages complete with tail coated conductor raising his baton to strike up the band.
