Horticulture + Homicide = Slugfest by Rosemary Harris
Don’t be misled by the title - we’re not talking about folks battering each other with their fists. After all, this is Rosemary Harris, Anthony and Agatha Award nominated author, who has horticulture on her mind. Her creation of Paula Holliday, owner of Dirty Business Gardening Solutions, has delighted readers since we first met Paula in Pushing Up Daisies (2008), and continues to do so.
The fourth in the Dirty Business mystery series, SLUGFEST, takes Paula away from Connecticut to NYC where she’s agreed to act as exhibit manager. She’s anticipating chances to meet new friends who share her passion for horticulture and spend time with her good friend, Lucy Cavanaugh, who lives in a Manhattan high rise and is fond of describing it as a place where you could have thousands of Facebook friends and not have the vaguest idea of who lives right on top of you.
What Paula was not at all expecting was meeting Rolanda Knox, a security guard nicknamed “Fort” for good reason or Connie Anzalone whose spouse appears to have Mafia ties. After all, this is a flower show usually inhabited by cultivated people (pun intended). And then, of course, there’s what all mystery fans are waiting for - a dead body, this one floating in the river.
There goes the happy, carefree weekend Paula had been looking forward to - she has to do some spade work and solve not only this murder but other shenanigans surrounding the Big Apple Flower Show.
Enjoy - we’re sure you will.
