No Rest For The Dead

Ever wish you had enough time to read all your favorite mystery writers?  Sad but true, it’s a busy, busy life but not to worry if you’ve been missing Sandra Brown, Kathy Reichs, Jeff Deaver, or J. A. Jance, you can find each one under a single cover in NO REST FOR THE DEAD.  Now, as if that weren’t temptation enough there are 26 writers in all telling the story of Jon Nunn, a detective who solved a murder case - only problem was he found the wrong killer and she was executed.  Each writer contributes a chapter, moving on from the previous writer’s work.

So, Jeff Lindsay begins with Chapter 1 - it’s 1998 and the McFall Art Museum is closed for the night.  Curator Christopher Thomas thought he was having a good evening after having his way with Justine, but he needs a great deal of money to repay a loan.  He’s reminded of this when “something cold and hard is pressed into the back of his neck.”

Alexander McCall Smith takes over with Chapter 2 in which we find Thomas and Justine at a conference in France.  The invitation had been for two people from the museum - he had assured Justine she wouldn’t have to do anything.  “For her part, she was under no illusions as to why he had asked her.”

Chapter 3 gives us Raymond Khoury’s contribution with the final chapter penned by Marcus Sakey.  But, just where is the plot going?  That’s precisely one reason this book is so fascinating - each chapter leaves us wondering and wanting to know what happens next.

The brainchild of Andrew F. Gulli, Managing Editor of The Strand Magazine, NO REST FOR THE DEAD is not only unique but a rare treat.

    Enjoy.
