It’s difficult to think of a time that’s more full of surprises than Christmas, and Maggie Kneen presents us with a book very much in the spirit of the season as it, too, is filled with the unexpected - lift-the-flaps and pop-ups aplenty. All are engagingly colorful and important for young hands - sturdy.
Just as in many homes Christmas in the Mouse House is a happily anticipated event. And for the small mice part of the fun is trimming the tree on Christmas Eve. But, oops, no one can find the star ornaments for the tree. Unbeknownst to the little ones Mama and Papa have hidden 12 of them throughout the house for the children to find.
A very young friend of ours thoroughly enjoyed looking at the book - first she was asked where she thought a star might be - behind that door? In the chest on the floor? After giving the question and double page careful consideration she chose a place and was so delighted when she discovered a star. Of course, when we finished she wanted to do it all over again.....and again....and again.
Recommended.
