HOUSTON SMALL PLATES & SIPS

Will never forget how delighted I was to be invited to a restaurant for a tasting menu.  I’m one of those who often envies what the diners around me have ordered and now I had a chance to try many of the tempting dishes - a little at a time.  I’ll not forget that evening!

Since that time small dishes have become extremely popular I’m happy to say and even happier to say that one of my favorite cooks/authors, Erin Hicks, has presented us with a collection of recreated tasting menus from Houston’s most acclaimed restaurants titled Houston Small Plates & Sips.  Plus, she has gone a step further by not only pairing the small plates with wines as is commonly found, but she also mates them with the perfect cocktails and beers.  Life doesn’t get any better!

As most know Houston abounds with top dining spots offering cuisines from all over the world from Vietnam to Scotland to Panama and more.  Hicks has wisely chosen the cream of these culinary offerings to tempt our palettes - perfect for dining a deux at home or hosting a luxe dinner party.  Who could possibly resist Pistachio-Crusted Goat Cheese Cakes from Benjy’s or Chipotle Chicken Sopes from Julia’s Bistro?  As for the Sips - well those are really something ranging from the Glass Walls’ Gin Blossom to Where There’s Smoke found at Hugo’s.

Hicks has left no menu unturned to offer us not only delicious but unique dishes and drinks.  Enjoy!
