EMPRESS OF FASHION Life of Diana Vreeland

A painful childhood as the less loved daughter of a beautiful, cruel woman served to push Diana Vreeland to remake herself into her version of perfection.  Well, remake herself she did until she married an uncommonly handsome man, studied the work of Coco Chanel, and became "the beacon of fashion for the twentieth century," as Diana Von Furstenberg put it.

She spoke bluntly but with wisdom and wit as she championed the most talented designers, photographers, models and illustrators while all the while becoming friend and mentor to the most interesting people, such as Jackie Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Lauren Bacall and more.

Empress of Fashion is not only fascinating reading but apt tribute to a unique individual, a true artiste of the fashion world.
