MATILDA'S CAT by Emily Gravett

Most will agree that baby kittens are adorable.  However, although the cat belonging to Matilda is full grown and has a mind of her own she is still irresistible.  Much of her allure is due to the fetching illustrations by Emily Gravett (winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Award for Illustration).  All the illustrations are full pages and brightly colored.  Each depicts a scene easily recognized by young readers - a tea party, riding a bike, drawing, etc.

Each page shows us an activity that Matilda’s cat doesn’t care for, and the final page shows us what she really likes best of all.  The ending will please both parents and youngsters.

Matilda’s Cat is a happy fun story highlighting the loving relationship between a child and her pet, and is best enjoyed by 4 to 8 year olds.
